This would include any personal rituals or practices that you maintain, in order to express your notion of devotion. There is no right or wrong way to practice spirituality. The relationship between you and your HIGHER POWER is as unique and individual as you are. These stories are meant to CELEBRATE the different ways people have of keeping a connection between themselves and the SOURCE of FORCE humming, with a loving and energetic vibration. Please respect each other's beliefs and practices. This is not a discussion of religious dogma, it is a study of spirituality.

OPINION-EDITORIALS

In the world of Journalism an Op-Ed is a piece written by either a contributor, or an editor. It is a personal opinion expressed in a format appropriate for newspapers or magazines. It is personal commentary on the environment around us, on the behaviour we are witness to, on the state of affairs that transpire on a local, regional and global basis. The purpose of an Op-Ed is to add one more voice to the many, in order to persuade other's to a particular point of view. It is an inherent human right to have an opinion and to enjoy the freedom to express that opinion in a public manner. It is an ethical responsibility to use that right and freedom to promote PEACE.

ESSAYS

Essay writing: a necessary skill for students attending college or university level classes. Essays, as a form of academic writing, teach critical thinking skills. The required format and content forces a writer to deeply consider the topic they have chosen; to gather up resource materials and organize the facts in a precise manner so that the written result has a clear thesis statement, a well-organized body of argument and an understandable conclusion that answers the opening thesis.

There are different types of essays:

* expository essays on general subjects

* analyzations of verbal texts or visual media

* critiques of other writer's works

* persuasive essays on general subjects

* research papers

Academic essays also require sources to be integrated within the essay, as well as properly listed source documentation in a prescribed format (APA or MLA). For our purposes here we do not insist upon the academic requirements, but be prepared to defend your argument!

SHORT STORIES

Short Stories: Fact or Short Stories: Fiction -- it matters not. Rooted in fact but fictionalized, that's okay too. A tale about returning to school after many years gone, or trying to start a business with nothing but a big dream and hope in your heart? Perfect!

Did you arrive in Vancouver (or any other metropolis) from another part of the world and want to describe the experience of learning how to live in a strange land? There are readers who are eager to hear what that was like. Describe how your life has changed since your arrival!

Are you bursting with happiness because all your efforts are now paying off and you are advancing in life, getting closer to realizing your dream because you stuck to your commitment? Share your happiness!

We want to hear the positive stories of your hopes, dreams, will power, and of staying the course and gaining what you set your mind on!
